Kresge Hearing Research Institute

I visited the Kresge Hearing Research Institute at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor MI.  I stayed for quite a while because I enjoyed it so much (or because someone forgot about me in a desk drawer for a while - at least I caught up on my grant reviews).

While there I toured Kresge and the medical research building (Med Sci I)

Read all about ECAPs and even did some testing in the booth

Tried on headphones and a cochlear implant

I noticed that people like taking flat knit people to farmer's markets - we're just flat, not malnourished!

I even ran out onto the field during a football game

Off to my next adventure!

Madison, Wisconsin

I visited the Binaural Hearing and Speech Lab in Madison, Wisconsin.

I got a tour of the lab

Can't localize, my ITDs are so small!

Where's the "popcorn" button?

I looked over some data

I also went to the farmer's market

I had a great time!

Portland, Oregon

I visited the Reiss Cochlear Implant and Hearing Aid Research Lab in Portland, Oregon.  I had quite an interesting visit.

I had a chance to visit the Farmer’s market at OHSU, where I sampled some of Oregon’s Rainier cherries and Hood strawberries (named after mountains in the region).

I had a chance to explore Portland as well, going out to the Columbia Gorge and checking out some of the hikes. The Portland Aerial Tram was a must-see and I rode down to the waterfront campus.

I helped out with some experiments,

and did some microscopy.

I weigh exactly 43.2329g!

I also, for some inexplicable reason, decided to parachute off the Biomedical Research Building.

Flat Knit Monita

I was told there was a rule that only Flat Knit David could travel the world by envelope, visiting labs. So I decided to fight it, and, of course, I won. Now I'm off to visit a former student.

Binaural hearing lab

I must have hit my head on the way to Germany because I don't remember a thing about the trip!

After a quick change of clothes I headed to the Binaural Hearing Lab in Urbana-Champaign.  Here's some pictures from my visit.

Imagine the size of the flat knit person that came from!

Where have I seen this setup before?

No lab is complete without coffee

Hanging out with some company friends

Bilateral atresia??? Clearly you've never seen a knit person!

Heading to the Binaural Hearing Lab North in Chicago

I got to tour the city a bit,

and participate in a psychophysical experiment.  I feel like I've sung about that before.

I had a good time in Illinois and now I'm off to my next adventure.
